Yantai to build more transportation infrastructure

Yantai, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, will accelerate the construction of transportation infrastructure in 2021 and plans to carry out 29 key construction projects, including railways, highways, airports, and ports, according to an announcement at a news conference hosted by the Yantai municipal transportation bureau on Feb 2.
According to a statement at the conference, the construction of Yantai Metro Line 1 will start this year and 90 percent of construction on the main building of the Yantai Penglai International Airport will be completed. Construction on the airport runway, terminal, hangar, and other supporting infrastructure for the Qixia Airport is expected to be completed as well.
Construction on the city's highway network will also be sped up, including the renovation and expansion of the G18 Rongcheng-Wuhai expressway project and the Fushan toll station of the Shenyang-Haikou expressway project.
Yantai also plans to renovate 500 kilometers of road in rural areas, optimize 15 urban bus lines, and introduce 100 12-meter pure electric air conditioned buses.
