An intelligent aerocraft has completed its first manned flight in Laishan district, Yantai, Shandong province.
The AAV216 aerocraft is the world’s first multi-rotor aircraft to be flown by a pilot at low altitudes.
The electric-powered aerocraft can achieve a speed of 130 kilometers per hour and reach a maximum altitude of 3,000 meters above sea level.
The vehicle was developed by Shanghai Kunxiang Intelligent Technology Co, which has invested 9.5 billion yuan ($1.35 billion) in the construction of an automatic aerocraft production and training base in Laishan.
The intelligent aerocraft can be used for low-altitude tourism, emergency rescue and transportation.
Laishan has in recent years made concerted efforts to boost its economic development. The district is currently home to 55 enterprises with revenues of over 100 million yuan.
The output value of strategic emerging industries and high-tech industries has risen to 68 percent and 76 percent of the district’s GDP respectively, ranking first among districts and counties in the city.
