The industrial internet sector in the coastal city of Yantai, Shandong province has seen rapid development in recent years.

The number of internet companies in Yantai reached 875, ranking first in the province, according to an announcement at a seminar discussing the deployment and development of industrial internet in Shandong on June 8.

Industrial internet is regarded by insiders as the latest generation of internet and will be of greater importance to the nation's push for large-scale industrial upgrading.

It refers to a network of linked advanced machines with internet-connected sensors and big data analytics.

Official data showed that the city’s industrial application index hit 75.76 percent, ranking first in the province.

Yantai has cultivated advanced industrial clusters and companies focusing on equipment manufacturing, electronic information, automobile manufacturing, and high-end chemicals, providing a strong industrial foundation for the development of industrial internet.

The local government has signed a cooperative agreement with Haier Group in May to establish a regional headquarters for the company, which will provide an internet platform to develop the sectors of intelligent manufacturing design and intelligent biomedicine.

The Haier Intelligent Kitchen Appliance Industry Park has been put into use and will be managed by COSMOPlat, an industrial internet platform developed by Haier.

China’s leading wine producer, Changyu Group also developed a dynamic product traceability system to ensure the quality of products.
