A conference showcasing the city's latest 5G technologies was held in Yantai, a coastal city of East China's Shandong province on May 17, according to local officials.

A total of 95 5G application projects developed by local companies were released covering government affairs, intelligent airports and intelligent parks.

The city’s 5G operators also signed cooperative agreements with related companies to build a chemicals industrial park, an industrial internet platform and an intelligent marine farm based on 5G technologies.

Chen Fei, mayor of Yantai and Zhang Dailing, deputy mayor of Yantai, also attended the conference.

Chen encouraged the development and application of 5G networks among companies and pointed out that 5G technologies played an importance role in promoting the upgrading of industries and the high-quality development of the city.

Officials said local government will ramp up efforts to accelerate the construction of 5G infrastructure and offer financial support for companies in high-end technological research and development.
