The 2019 World Industrial Design Expo opens in Yantai, Shandong province on Oct 18, featuring the latest technologies and products in industrial design.

As the world's largest industrial design expo, this year's event attracted hundreds of world-leading enterprises, universities and associations, aiming to promote the application of industrial design in data exchange, intelligent manufacturing, smart life, medical health and poverty alleviation.

Yantai Party Secretary Zhang Shuping described the city as a leader in industrial design with a strong foundation in modern industry. In 2018, China’s first provincial industrial design institute was built in Shandong.

The opening ceremony saw the release of the Design Industry Declaration, which stressed the importance of building a global design industry organization to revitalize the industry, spur industrial upgrading and shape future industrial structure.

Four key industrial design projects were announced to be built in Yantai during the opening ceremony – the Sino-German Business Center, Yantai International Design Town, China Unified Innovation University of Industrial Design and the China Yantai Industrial Design Center of National Project of Industry and Education Integration.

China Unified Innovation University of Industrial Design is sponsored by the China Industrial Design Association and 50 famous design institutes and firms from home and abroad. It will work to train more talents in the industrial design industry.
