More than 2,000 industrial design institutes and enterprises will attend the 2019 World Industrial Design Expo in Yantai, Shandong province from Oct 18-20, the expo organizer said on Thursday.

The expo aims to promote the application of industrial design in data exchange, intelligent manufacturing, smart life, medical health and poverty alleviation.

It was co-organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology — the nation's top industry regulator — along with the the Shandong Provincial People's Government.

According to the expo’s organizing committee, hundreds of high-end forums, workshops and cooperation meetings will be held in the 30,000-square-meter exposition area, and many of the latest industrial design ideas and products will be on display.

Zhang Huanwei, spokesman of the Yantai Municipal People's Government, said the first World Industrial Design Association will be established during the expo. The government will also join hands with the China Industrial Design Association and 50 famous design institutes and firms to build China Unified Innovation University of Industrial Design.

The expo, which is the world’s largest industrial design expo, has been held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province twice now and is a testament to China's innovative and industrial strength.
