Paper-cutting art spotlighted in Yantai

An exhibition featuring traditional paper-cutting artworks are on display at Yantai Jiaodong Folk Art Museum, which will run until Oct 14.
Nine outstanding paper-cutting masters from China's Guizhou, Shandong, Shaanxi, Jilin and Jiangsu provinces were invited to showcase their exquisite artworks with different styles.
More than 100 paper-cutting artworks with varying themes, exquisite patterns and distinctive regional characteristics are exhibited at museum.
Paper-cuttings are used to decorate the windows, beds, rice containers and flour vats, and exhibit the homeowners' longing for good luck. Chinese paper-cutting is also included on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
As a part of the First Yantai Citizens Cultural Festival, the exhibition will honor the 70th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China and also provides an exchange platform for paper-cut artists from all over the country.
