Yantai, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, hosted a media tour on Aug 6 in an attempt to promote the city's modern agriculture and showcase its local ago-products.
More than 30 mainstream media outlets will conduct in-depth interviews with agro companies in Muping district, Laiyang, Qixia and Haiyang featuring food processing, fruit, and aquatic products over the next four days.
Jointly hosted by the city's publicity department and agricultural bureau, the event is also a move to lift its regional brands and further revitalize rural areas.
In recent years, the coastal city has greatly ramped up efforts to cultivate regional brands, which has become a major impetus to boost the local agricultural industry.
Accordingly, the selling price of cherries in Yantai has increased from 20.6 yuan ($2.9) per kilogram in 2015 to 31.8 yuan this year, which has greatly increased local farmers' income.
