Officials from the Yantai municipal commission of tourism development organized their winter tourism promotional tour to major cities along the Qingdao-Rongcheng high-speed railway from Dec 15 to 17, in a bid to seize the opportunity created by the newly-opened intercity railway and activate the city's winter tourism market.

More than 30 tourism enterprises and travel agencies from Yantai attended the promotional event, which was themed as "travel in Yantai by high-speed rail" and was launched in Qingdao and Werihai.

Several travel route and tourism products were recommended during the promotional event, including a "three-day trip to Yantai-Penglai-Changdao Islands", "a journey through Yantai's wine culture", "a weekend trip to the hot springs", and "experience a ski trip in Yantai".

Popular scenic spots in Yantai such as the Nanshan Scenic Area in Longkou, Chateau Junding in Penglai, and the Changyu Wine Culture Museum also launched preferential terms. Tourists can enjoy discount prices in January if they have tickets for the Qingdao-Rongcheng high-speed railway.

The high-speed railway connecting the major cities of Qingdao, Yantai,Weihai and Qongcheng across the Shandong Peninsula opened on Nov 16, forming a one-hour city-to-city loop, which helps to eliminate the transport bottlenecks in the northeastern area of Shandong Peninsula, improve regional cooperation and boost economic development.
