Haiyang hosts new media industry development conference

The Fourth China New Media Industry Development Conference opened on Oct 20 in Haiyang, a county-level city in Yantai, East China's Shandong province.
Organized by the new media center of Xinhua News Agency, the conference invited some 900 insiders to analyze and discuss development trends in China's new media sector in terms of technology, application and investment.
The opening ceremony of the conference was attended by Liu Siyang, deputy director of Xinhua News Agency, and Sun Shougang, a senior official of Shandong province.
Liu said at the opening ceremony that innovation is crucial to media convergence, the development of new media, and media communication.
Liu stressed that by making the most of the new media sector, traditional mainstream media can promote the integration of media content, dissemination platforms and methods of communication.
Sun said that Shandong, as a major province in the country's Internet news sector, has been striving to promote the transformation and upgrading of traditional forms of media such as newspapers, radio and television.
Sun added that Shandong province will continue to reinforce Internet-based reforms of the media and cultivate a batch of competitive new media brands.
