More than 1.8 million tourists visited Yantai during the Mid-Autumn Festival, with year-on-year growth of 13.58 percent, bringing in 1.74 billion yuan ($261 million) of tourism revenue, up 11.06 percent year-on-year, according to the Yantai municipal tourism bureau.
Some 50 events such as autumn tours, moon gazing and fruit picking were held during the festival in well-known scenic spots such as the Nanshan Scenic Area in Longkou, Chateau Junding in Penglai, and Changyu Castel Chateau.
Driving tours to Kunyu Mountain, Luoshan Mountain and Aishan Mountain, proved to be favorites for local citizens and tourists from nearby cities.
Many residents said that they would not travel far during the Mid-Autumn Festival because the seven-day National Day holiday is in less than 10 days.
Around 998,900 tourists came from areas close to Yantai, accounting for 55.59 percent of the total tourists visiting during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
