Some 30 journalists will travel to major wine chateaus in Yantai, such as Changyu Castel Chateau and Chateau Junding, to visit and conduct interviews over the four-day tour.
Wang Hongqing, director of the information office of the Yantai government, said that the event was to promote the brand of Yantai as a summer resort, a livable and charming city, a wonderland of fine wines, and as a place to invest. He added that the media tour would help to push ahead the integration of Yantai's wine culture and tourism sector, through media reports on the city's wine industry.
Zhang Jiayu, deputy director of the China Yantai Vine and Wine Office, introduced Yantai as China's largest wine producing region. Currently, the city's wine industry has good prospects for development. Wine tourism has become a big part of the tourism sector, with the establishment of the Changyu Wine Culture Museum, Changyu Castel Chateau, and the Chateau Junding.
The media tour was jointly sponsored by the publicity department of Yantai, the China Yantai Vine and Wine Office, the Yantai municipal bureau of tourism, the information office of Yantai government, and the Yantai municipal Internet information office.
