A delivery ceremony held on Feb 21 for 1,022 export buses made by Zhongtong Bus Holding Co Ltd – a top manufacturer in Liaocheng city in East China's Shandong province – marked a turning point in its global ambitions. The vehicles were bound for Saudi Arabia, marking a significant milestone in the company's international expansion plans.

The achievement comes as the Zhongtong Bus continues to rapidly grow its presence overseas, after having exported a total of 1,718 buses in the first quarter of 2024 alone.

As a result, the company has established a strong foothold in over 100 countries and regions across the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, East Asia and in Southeast Asia.

A key enterprise based in Liaocheng city, Zhongtong Bus recognized the potential of new energy buses early on. In 2004, the company embarked on its pioneering quest to develop new energy buses, establishing itself as a frontrunner in this emerging field. Two years later, it made history by rolling out the nation's first electric bus with independent intellectual property rights.

Driven by its unswerving focus on environmental stewardship, Zhongtong Bus has consistently championed green energy strategies.

In 2022, the company's next-generation hydrogen fuel cell bus served the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics, further showcasing its range of sustainable mobility solutions.

Currently, around 80,000 Zhongtong Bus new energy units are operating worldwide, contributing to a formidable annual carbon emission reduction estimated at 8.86 million metric tons.

All in all, the company's unwavering dedication to sustainability is widely said to have earned it global recognition and established it as a driving force in the transition towards a greener future.
