Tips for Chinese New Year celebration in Jinan

Jinan, capital of Shandong province, has planned various events, such as cultural performances, traditional temple fairs, and food feasts, in its major scenic areas and cultural venues to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year.

A Spring Festival lantern fair will be held at Baotu Spring from Feb 10 to 26. Some of the lanterns are shaped like dragons in celebration of the Year of the Dragon.

A Chinese New Year cultural temple fair will take place at the Daming Lake Scenic Area from Feb 10 to 25, featuring Spring Festival paintings, paper-cuttings, and sugar paintings, as well as modern performances and hanfu (traditional Chinese attire) shows.

The Qianfo Mountain Scenic Area will hold the 2024 Spring Festival event from Feb 10 to 25, setting up booths offering Chinese New Year goods.

Mingshui Ancient City is filled with a festive atmosphere as it plans to hold a variety of activities, such as dragon dances, temple fairs, and lantern fairs, to celebrate the traditional festival.

Jinan's cultural venues will also be open during the Chinese New Year holiday. For example, the Shandong Museum is scheduled to be open from 9 am to 5 pm from Feb 10 to 17, while the Jinan Museum is scheduled to be open from 9 am to 5 pm from Feb 9 to 17.
