Yantai's wine industry has made a groundbreaking move by embarking on an intensive nine-day journey across Europe, covering three countries and eight cities, stirring up a "purple whirlwind" in the wine world.

From Dec 11 to 20, Yu Yongxin, Chairman of the Yantai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and the head of the city's wine industry chain, led a delegation to promote the Yantai wine industry, foster sister-city cooperation, and engage in international exchanges, achieving significant results.

The delegation engaged with three major world wine organizations: the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), the Great Wine Capitals (GWC), and the Global Wine Tourism Organization (GWTO), receiving commendations and warm welcomes.

Notably, at the OIV headquarters in Dijon, France, an important cooperation and exchange meeting was held, underscoring the deepening ties between Yantai and international wine bodies.

The visit marked a significant milestone for Yantai, which signed a new observer cooperation agreement with the OIV and became a founding member of the proposed "International City of Vine and Wine Union", cementing its commitment to global wine industry integration and cooperation.

The delegation's efforts were not limited to discussions and signings; they participated in various promotional activities and tastings in Paris, Bordeaux, and Madrid, showcasing Yantai's rich wine culture and industrial potential.

Esteemed European wine rating institutions like Bettane+Desseauve and Guia Penin Wine Guide praised Yantai's wines, further affirming their quality and appeal.

Through this journey of multilateral exchange and cooperative learning, Yantai has not only promoted its wine industry but also deepened its friendship and trust internationally.

The visit has been a testament to Yantai's burgeoning status in the global wine industry, earning it high praise from Europe's authoritative wine media and marking a new chapter of international recognition and development for Yantai's wine industry.
