Four companies based in East China's Shandong province have made them to this year's Fortune Global 500 list, which was unveiled on Aug 2.

The four companies are Shandong Energy Group, Shandong Weiqiao Pioneering Group, Haier Smart Home and Shandong Hi-speed Group.

Shandong Energy Group was ranked 72nd with its revenue of $124.09 billion. The company has been ranked among the top 100 of the Fortune Global 500 for two consecutive years.

One of the main reasons behind this is the company's efforts to optimize the value chain and adopt green and low-carbon strategies.

Weiqiao has in recent years been focused on upgrading and transforming stock assets. It has also constructed 11 intelligent factories in the textile sector to promote digital upgrading.

Haier Smart Home was ranked 419th with its revenue of $36.2 billion, while Shandong Hi-speed Group took the 440th spot, up 18 places from last year, with its revenue of $34.45 billion.

This year, 142 Chinese companies, including those in Taiwan, made it to the annual list. This is the fifth consecutive year that Chinese companies have topped the list in terms of number. The US and Japan followed with 136 and 41 enterprises respectively.
