Argentine Ambassador to China Sabino Vaca Narvaja visited Zaozhuang, a city in East China's Shandong province with a fast-developing lithium industry, from July 13-14.

During his visit, Narvaja spoke about strategic partnership the two countries have had since Argentine became a part of the Belt and Road Initiative. He also noted that the two sides have been strengthening cooperation in renewable energy.

"Lithium is extremely important for electric vehicles and also for developing renewable energy," the ambassador said.

"Argentina has high-quality lithium resources while Zaozhuang has formed a completed industrial chain and is on the fast track to becoming the lithium capital in northern China. The two sides have great potential for cooperation, and this will not only benefit the lithium mining industry in Argentina but also boost the development of Zaozhuang's lithium industry," he added.

The Embassy of Argentina in China said it will play a key role in promoting mutual cooperation by helping more Argentine enterprises visit and invest in Zaozhuang and deepening exchanges between the two sides in terms of trade, education and culture.
