Salt-resistant soybeans are entering their harvest season in late autumn in the Yellow River Delta Agricultural High-tech Industry Demonstration Zone in Dongying, Shandong province.

The soybean variety, which is planted in saline soil with a salt content of four to five parts per thousand, has high yield, as well as the characteristics of stable character, strong stress resistance, and salt tolerance. It has strong application value, as well as economic and social benefits, said industry insiders.

The Yellow River Delta Agricultural High-tech Industry Demonstration Zone spans 350 square kilometers, more than 80 percent of which is saline-alkali land. Local researchers have been promoting salt-resistant crop cultivation.
