Jining pushes ahead with high-quality education development

Jining in East China's Shandong province has been making continuous efforts to promote the high-quality development of its education sector and has achieved significant progress, according to local media outlets.

The city is now home to more than 3,700 schools with 1.72 million students and nearly 128,200 staff members. It leads the province in terms of investment in the construction and rebuild of schools. To date, Jining has added and reconstructed 1,342 kindergartens, as well as 316 primary and middle schools, increasing their admission quotas by 283,000. It has also spent 5.5 billion yuan ($850.54 million) in building new schools and apartments in rural areas.

As for vocational education, Jining offers 169 majors based on the main and emerging industries in the city. Four of Jining's medium-level polytechnics are recognized as national demonstration schools.

In addition, Jining has been working to provide public education to children with physical or mental disabilities, 96 percent of whom in the city has been admitted to a school.

To ensure that no children drop out of school due to a lack of money, Jining offers 270 million yuan worth of financial aid every year to 100,000 students. It also spends 210 million yuan on average every year to improve students' nutrition.
