The China Wine Digital Research Institute was launched in Yantai, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, on April 9. Changyu, COFCO Great Wall, Grand Dragon, Dynasty, and Moutai Wine joined the institute as its first wine companies.

The institute aims to promote the application of blockchain technology in the wine industry in China. It will make use of big data to help improve package design, marketing, and China's wine industry.

In October 2020, Changyu and Tencent jointly developed China's first blockchain platform for the wine industry. By April 9, a total of 47.6 million wine products had traceable information in the platform. The blockchain platform helps ensure the quality of Chinese wine products.

The institute will take advantage of digital technology to drive the high-quality development of the Chinese wine industry, said Sun Jian, general manager of Changyu Group, at the launch ceremony.
