Weifang sees strong development in past five years

Weifang, Shandong province has witnessed strong economic and social development in the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), said local officials at a recent news conference held by the information office of the Weifang municipal people’s government.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the city's GDP increased steadily from 466.72 billion yuan ($71.74 billion) in 2015 to 568.85 billion yuan in 2019, and it is expected to reach 588 billion yuan in 2020, according to official statistics.

The city's per capita GDP increased from 50,389 yuan in 2015 to 60,760 yuan in 2019.

Its three-industry structure was adjusted from 10.05:44.07:45.88 to 9.1:40.27:50.63, while the added value of its service sector accounted for more than 50 percent of the city's GDP.

Industrial economies of scale continue to grow in the city. Among the 41 industrial categories in China, Weifang has 38.

From January to November last year, the operating income of industrial enterprises above designated size in Weifang reached 786.78 billion yuan, up by 2.4 percent year-on-year, with total profits growing 20.4 percent.

The city's general public budget revenue reached 57.39 billion yuan, an increase of 8.94 billion yuan over its 2015 total.

Its total foreign trade volume has consistently ranked within the top three in Shandong, accounting for more than eight percent of the province's total.
