One August morning, workers were busy constructing a new materials project funded by Jofo (Weifang) Nonwoven Co in the Weifang Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone.

"The infrastructure for the project will be completed around October, and the factories will be fully furnished by the end of December," said Zhong Jihua, a project manager.

The project is part of the Small Town of Healthcare in the Weifang high-tech zone, a healthcare industrial park built by consumer products manufacturing giant Procter & Gamble (P&G) and Guangzhou-based personal care product maker Jofo Group.

"The project is in partnership with P&G and will be put into operation in April 2021," said Zhong.

According to Zhong, the new materials project will adopt the latest environmentally-friendly non-woven technology made by P&G, a Fortune Global 500 company, which can effectively reduce the cost of non-woven raw materials and optimize the performance of related consumer products.

Jofo will also build a joint research and development platform in the zone with P&G to strengthen the development of new materials, said Zhao Minzhong, chairman of Jofo.

Zhao said that Jofo will move its Chinese headquarters from Guangzhou to the Weifang high-tech zone. Meanwhile, the company plans to attract more than 20 companies involved in smart manufacturing, automated warehousing and logistics, and e-commerce along its industrial chain to the zone.
