The Fourth China Mount Tai International High-tech Fair and the New and Old kinetic Energy Conversion Summit took place in Tai'an, Shandong province on April 23.

Hou Yunchun, former deputy director of the Development Research Center of the State Council, Ni Guangnan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Li Xixin, mayor of Tai'an attended the summit.

Hou delivered a speech themed on accelerating the transformation of old and new kinetic energy and promoting economic development with high quality. He said that the energy conversion has entered its critical period with both challenges and opportunities.

The change of the main social contradictions and the complex and volatile international environment make new requests and new challenges for economic development; new technologies, the rapid urbanization in China and the comprehensively deepening reform provide support and new opportunities and are driving forces for the economic development and energy transformation.

Li introduced the basic information of Tai'an High-tech Zone, a national high-tech industrial development zone and the comprehensive experimental area for the provincial conversion of new and old kinetic energy.

The high-tech zone has cultivated a large number of competitive industries, including power transmission and transformation equipment, mining safety equipment, and automobiles. It is also accelerating the development of emerging industries such as modern logistics, biological medicine and new materials.

The zone introduced 20 projects, covering smart manufacturing, composite materials, new energy, a research and development center, and environmental technology as well as 34 advanced talents, including one academician and three Taishan scholars at the meeting.
