Kongtong Wonderland: Yantai's new island attraction opens
Updated : 2026-07-31
Kongtong Wonderland, a new immersive attraction inspired by the legend of the Eight Immortals, officially opened on July 30 on Kongtong Island off the coast of Yantai in East China's Shandong province, welcoming visitors from across the country.
The experience begins during the 30-minute ferry ride to the island from Chefoo Bay Plaza, with interactive performances held onboard. Once ashore, guests are greeted by breathtaking shows and enter the "fairy realm" through the majestic Nantianmen.
The attraction features nearly 300 performances throughout the year, including street parades, martial arts, and evening drone-and-light shows. Highlights include Dongyou Palace and Baxian Street, complemented by the seaside Kongtong Xianju Resort Hotel for overnight stays. Visitors can also enjoy themed dining and cultural crafts like paper-cutting and straw weaving.
Kongtong Wonderland forms a new "mountain-sea-island-city" tourism circuit connecting Yantai Mountain and Suochengli Historic Block. It transforms the island experience from sightseeing to immersive storytelling, helping elevate Yantai from a transit stop to a must-visit travel destination.
