A new coastal sightseeing bus route with a distinctive "Eight Immortals" theme was officially launched in Yantai, East China's Shandong province, on July 27, offering residents and visitors a unique new way to explore the city's stunning coastline.
The route is inspired by the legendary "Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea", a beloved tale deeply rooted in local culture. It connects 16 major scenic spots along Yantai's golden coastline, including Chefoo Bay Square, Chaoyang Street, Changyu Wine Culture Museum, Hongkou 1920 Cultural and Historic Block, and Fisherman's Wharf.
To bring the theme to life, each bus features a dedicated design themed after one of the Eight Immortals, creating a moving gallery of Yantai's cultural heritage. Themed bus stops, decorated with classic cultural motifs, further enhance the experience.
The route runs from Yantai Railway Station to Sports Park, covering natural landscapes, historical districts, museums, and leisure beaches.
Operating from May through October, the service runs daily from 8 am to 9 pm with a flat fare of 1 yuan ($0.15).
On its opening day, staff in themed costumes interacted with passengers, sharing stories about the Eight Immortals and local history.
The new line offers a cultural journey along the coast, blending sightseeing, storytelling, and convenient transportation all in one unforgettable experience.
