Yantai recently opened its newly renovated Yanhuo Alley, adding a new attraction to the city's growing nighttime economy. Designed to operate throughout the day and into the evening, the alley combines traditional culture, local food and leisure experiences in a restored old-street setting.

By day, the alley showcases traditional Chinese culture through antique stalls and demonstrations by artisans practicing more than 20 crafts of intangible cultural heritage, including pyrography, gourd carving, and sugar painting. Visitors can watch the craftspeople at work while exploring architecture inspired by traditional streets.

As night falls, the area transforms into a lively food street. Barbecue stalls, local snacks and illuminated historic architecture create a bustling atmosphere, attracting residents and visitors looking for an enjoyable evening out.

The alley also features a series of photo spots, including artificial wisteria, lantern-lined covered bridges, and a vintage truck made by local artisans, providing visitors with scenic backdrops throughout the area.

This new project enhances the popular flower, bird, and aquarium night markets by broadening the array of nighttime attractions. These two zones together provide dining, shopping, entertainment, and cultural activities, all easily accessible on foot.

According to the market's operator, the two themed streets, which serve as distinct tourist destinations, are expected to form a nighttime economic cluster. By blending traditional culture with modern leisure activities, Yanhuo Alley offers visitors a new way to experience the city's culture and history after dark.
