A grand hanfu parade was held on April 19 in Yantai, East China's Shandong province, reviving the traditional Shangsi Festival, a day for spring outings and prayers in ancient China.
The parade featured five formations, bringing together hanfu enthusiasts from Yantai, Qingdao, and Rizhao.
Performers from the Penglai Pavilion scenic area appeared as the legendary Eight Immortals, a group of revered Taoist figures, and the Seven Fairies, celestial maidens from Chinese folklore. College students from several Yantai-based universities and local primary school students also participated, bringing a sense of youthful energy to the procession.
The parade started at Sanxian Mountain and made its way along the Xianjing Road to Penglai Pavilion. Along the route, performances included traditional dances, the Qijiguang yangko dance, and drum shows. Participants received souvenir "Eight Immortals gourds" and were invited to tour the scenic areas in hanfu, with photo spots set up along the way to capture the dreamlike atmosphere.
