A new energy vehicle industrial park in Fushan district is rapidly transforming into Yantai's next industrial powerhouse.
With 85 billion yuan ($11.7 billion) in committed investment for 13 key projects, the park is set to push the district's annual industrial output beyond 150 billion yuan within three to five years.
At the heart of this transformation is the Weichai-FinDreams New Energy Power Industrial Park, the largest equipment manufacturing project to be built in Yantai since the start of the 11th Five-Year Plan period (2006-10). Construction began in March 2024. Just 300 days later, the first batch of products rolled off the line, setting a new company record.
The gigafactory now operates two fully automated production lines, each producing 15,000 blade battery cells per day. Each line stretches three kilometers and integrates 138 processes, with robotic arms, magnetic levitation conveyors, and AGVs handling nearly every step without human intervention.
In addition to the anchor project, the park is building a complete industrial ecosystem. Neighboring facilities include Cham Battery, which focuses on high-energy-density cylindrical cells, and Hanke Technology, a semiconductor equipment maker. High-level service platforms such as China National Quality Inspection for vehicle testing and innovation hubs are also taking shape. A 19.3-square-kilometer western industrial zone is under development.
With a long-term, chain-based strategy, Fushan is moving decisively from building infrastructure to fostering a world-class industrial cluster.
