The Shandong Port International Exchange Centre, also known as the Huanghai Hotel, has been named a Golden Key International Alliance Benchmark Hotel — the first in Yantai and the sixth in China.
This recognition confirms the hotel meets the global 5C service standards — cleanliness, comfort, convenience, care, and credibility — placing it among the nation's top-tier accommodations.
To align with these standards and enhance Yantai's international visibility, the hotel has developed a service system that combines global best practices with local characteristics. It has established more than 1,300 service standards, hosted 46 specialized training sessions, and received on-site expert guidance. These efforts have led to significant improvements in facilities, service workflows, and management systems.
The initiative has produced notable enhancements. Visitor numbers during peak seasons have surged by over 30 percent, leading to a 21 percent increase in revenue. Customer satisfaction climbed from 42.6 percent to 92.1 percent, and its online rating improved from 4.62 to 4.79.

The hotel also introduced themed service areas focused on industry collaboration, cultural experiences, guest care, and environmental sustainability, further enhancing its service model.
As a global symbol of service excellence, the Golden Key originated in 1929 and was introduced to China in 1995. Its service standards became a requirement for five-star hotels in 2003. The benchmark hotel designation represents the highest honor awarded by the Golden Key International Alliance.
