On July 7, an event was held in Hohhot, the provincial capital of the Inner Mongolia, aimed at promoting the city of Yantai for its accomplishments in traveling, living and working to China's northwest cities.
Yantai, a coastal city in the Shangdong province, is most known for its seaside, fruit and climate and has attracted thousands of tourists from the northwest cities every year.
In a bid to further enhance the city image, these promotional events will continue to be held in Yinchuan and Lanzhou, both provincial capitals of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Gansu province, respectively. Bus advertisements, displaying the summer resort at Yantai, can be seen around Hohhot and because the buses run around the city, Yantai has made an impression on local residents.
"We have run advertisements in 11 selected cities covering the north, northeast and northwest parts of China, at areas such as high-speed railway stations, airports and bus bodies," Wu Benqing, the deputy chief of Yantai City Development Co, said.
Because the events were successfully held in Beijing and Hainan, more will be launched in up to 30 cities in the next three years.
