Qingdao launches plan to become premier coastal wellness destination
Qingdao has unveiled a three-year action plan (2025–27) to position itself as a leading domestic and internationally recognized coastal wellness and longevity destination.
The plan sets clear targets: developing five competitive leading enterprises, establishing 15 demonstration bases, and creating 10 high-quality signature products by 2027. It emphasizes deep integration with healthcare, culture, tourism, sports, and marine industries, aiming to offer diverse elderly groups superior experiences centered on coastal, hot spring, and mountain-sea therapies.
Comprehensive policy support includes prioritized land use, tax reductions, staged land payment options, and residential utility rates for eligible institutions. Medical facilities within these centers will be insured, facilitating direct cross-province settlement.
To foster innovation, Qingdao will create unique offerings like cruise-based wellness journeys, golden wedding anniversary packages, and art therapy, moving beyond generic models. It will design seasonal travel routes and build a smart service platform for integrated elderly care.
For brand building, a "1+N" brand cluster will be developed, with a core slogan highlighting the city's natural and wellness appeal. Sub-brands like maritime wellness and hot spring retreats will enhance overall brand influence.
Promotion will occur through both online and offline channels, including domestic and international exhibitions, targeted outreach in key source markets, and e-commerce platform marketing.
Over the next three years, Qingdao will leverage its resources as the foundation, prioritize integration as the key focus, and uphold quality as the core principle, continuing to generate new momentum for the industry.
