Qingdao conference focuses on breakthroughs in laser display technology
The 2024 Laser Display Technology and Industry Development Conference held in Qingdao, Shandong province, on Sept 19, showcased numerous innovations and breakthroughs in laser display technology.
The event explored new approaches to laser display innovation in areas such as real-world applications, products, technology, and industry.
"Laser display, with features such as non-emissive screens, moderate brightness, visual comfort, and low energy consumption, has become a major focus for mid-to-high-end audiovisual products, driving consumption upgrades," said Zhou Haiyan, a deputy inspector from the electronic information department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Hao Yabin, executive president of the China Video Industry Association, noted: "As a leading next-generation display technology, laser display is playing a vital role in enhancing industrial value, promoting consumption, and improving user quality of life."
This year, sales of laser TVs in the ultra-large screen market have surged.
According to Li Wei, president of Hisense Visual Technology, the past decade has seen laser TVs promote the widespread use of 100-inch displays in homes, with innovations such as rollable and liftable screens. Industry data show a sharp rise in demand for 100-inch TVs, driven in large part by laser televisions.
At the conference, future trends in laser display were evident: larger screens, better image quality, more compact designs, enhanced artificial technology interactivity, and greater energy efficiency. In the near future, households may bring home 150-inch laser TVs, while new projection lens technologies and foldable and rollable screens will address the user experience for larger displays.
