The Haixiwan Bay Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering Industrial Base in Qingdao, East China's Shandong province, has witnessed a number of flagship products, such as Guoxin 1, the world's first 100,000-ton intelligent fishery large-scale aquaculture vessel.
The base, which is one of three major shipbuilding bases in China, produces new energy and environmentally friendly mainstream ships such as bulk carriers and container ships, as well as offshore engineering equipment, and bears the heavy responsibility of leading China's shipbuilding and marine engineering industry on the global stage, according to local authorities.
Shipbuilding and marine engineering are integral components of high-end manufacturing industries. Qingdao is actively promoting the integration and development of the entire industrial chain, cultivating leading enterprises and specialized and innovative companies, with the aim of establishing a world-class shipbuilding and marine engineering hub.
Haixiwan Bay enjoys geographical advantages such as deep and broad bays, a complete industrial chain and a concentrated industrial distribution, helping it expand both domestically and internationally.
Taking advantage of these strengths, the Tianjin-based Offshore Oil Engineering Co Ltd has continuously invested in Qingdao as its main construction base since 2005. Its products cover various sea areas in China and have a presence in international markets such as Europe, the Americas, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
Marine equipment is one of Qingdao's 24 key industrial chains, where shipbuilding and marine engineering undoubtedly play a leading role, driving the entire industrial chain forward.
Currently, Haixiwan Bay is promoting the strengthening of the shipbuilding and marine industry's technological chain, aiming to create a first-class shipbuilding and marine engineering research and development center in northern China. A global hub for shipbuilding and marine engineering is rapidly emerging in Qingdao.
