Intl violin competition to kick off in Shinan
The final of the Qingdao International Violin Competition will take place on Sept 20 at the Qingdao Concert Hall in Shinan district.
This year's competition has garnered nearly 100 talented violinists from around the world. Twenty-two Chinese and foreign participants have qualified for the semi-finals following the preliminary rounds. Six of them will enter the finals.

The competition aims to highlight both international aspects and distinct features of Chinese music and culture. The chosen repertoire for the competition includes the Chinese-style violin solo Sunshine on Tashkuergan, and The Butterfly Lovers' Violin Concerto.
The Lin Yaoji Outstanding Performance Award, named after a renowned Chinese music educator, as well as the Chinese Works Award, will be presented during the competition.
Seven renowned violinists, including Tong Weidong from China, Zakhar Bron from Russia, Young-Uck Kim from the United States and Boris Kuschnir from Austria, will serve as the judges of the competition.
Tong, a professor of violin at the Central Conservatory of Music and director of the orchestral department, will act as the chair of the judging panel.
