On Aug 28, three fully-loaded trucks passed through the customs clearance channel and entered the Qingdao Airport Comprehensive Bonded Zone, marking the official opening and operation of the zone.

The Qingdao Airport Comprehensive Bonded Zone is the first of its kind in Shandong province and the fifth comprehensive bonded zone in Qingdao.

The first batch of cleared goods were electronic components for Haier Smart Home products, and aircraft equipment products for Qingdao Airlines Co.

"The bonded zone has optimized the regulatory processes according to the needs of local enterprises, helping to create advanced supply chain solutions, with potential annual cost reductions for companies exceeding one million yuan ($137,000)," according to a local logistics company.

With a total planned land area of 1.44 square kilometers, the Qingdao Airport Comprehensive Bonded Zone is adjacent to the cargo area of Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport and the international hub port of the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area. The zone will become an important carrier for open economic development, as well as a hub and distribution center for aviation transportation.
