New commercial pedestrian street dazzles Qingdao
A new commercial pedestrian street, which was inspired by the ancient literary work Shan Hai Jing, or The Classic of Mountains and Seas, recently opened to the public in Chengyang district, Qingdao.
A major source of Chinese mythology that dates back more than 2,000 years, Shan Hai Jing contains a wealth of information on history, mythology, religion, astronomy, geography, folklore, ethnicities, natural resources and medicine.
The pedestrian street attempts to simulate the mountains and rivers depicted in the ancient classic through use of materials, three-dimensional paintings, and appearance designs.
Integrating food, accommodation, travel, shopping, entertainment and enjoyment, the pedestrian street serves as another nighttime landmark in Qingdao. Nearly 100 professional performers will stage about 400 themed performances for visitors throughout the year in the area.
