Recently, the Commerce Department of Shandong province released the first batch of three time-honored brand gathering areas in the province, and Shinan's Zhongshan Road was listed among them.

The 1,500-meter-long Zhongshan Road, which serves as a major pedestrian street in Qingdao, has a long history and is considered the city's main commercial zone. Back in the 1930s, Zhongshan Road flourished into the busiest commercial street in Qingdao. It now has the largest amount of shops and continues to prosper for almost a century.
There are a great number of time-honored shops located along the road. For example, Chunhelou, a restaurant established in Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) that specializes in regional cuisines, is still a consumer favorite today. Other brands such as Hendry Glasses and Hongrentang continue to boast their popularity along Zhongshan Road.
To promote the historical culture of Zhongshan Road, Shinan hosts many cultural events. This year, the first edition of the Shangjieli Beer Festival was held during the summer and the 10-day event attracted people from different age groups by blending local culture with cutting-edge technologies.

As more events open up to the public and more old buildings are restored, Zhongshan Road is expected to become more popular.
