A celebration for International Museum Day was held at the Museum of People's Liberation Army Navy in Shinan district, Qingdao on May 18.

During the event, Shinan district promoted its museum study tour program, which will host 100 free lectures this year that include online courses, on-site tours, interactions and experiences, and representations.

The program was created in response to the theme of this year's International Museum Day, The Power of Museums, which conveyed the idea that museums in the 21st century have enormous potential and clout, and that they can help to make the world a better place.

According to officials, the program aims to maximize museums' educational and cultural promotion functions as well as attract more visitors to museums.

During the event, the Qingdao culture and tourism bureau also launched 10 museum travel routes across the city for the first time.

In addition to the celebration, museums and memorial halls across Qingdao also hosted a variety of online and offline activities including cultural lectures, cultural relics appraisals, and creative cultural product exhibitions to enhance the profile of International Museum Day.
