The world's first 100,000-ton intelligent aquaculture ship, Conson No 1, was launched from Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co on Jan 25 after 392 days of construction.

The ship, financed by Qingdao Conson Development Co, is 249.9 meters long, 45 meters wide and 21.5 meters deep, with an aquaculture area of 80,000 cubic meters. It is expected to produce 4,000 tons of high-quality fish annually, with an annual operating income of about 220 million yuan ($30.95 million).

Qingdao Conson Development Co will invest in two more such aquaculture vessels to boost marine aquaculture and promote marine fishery intellectualization in China, said the company.
