The new venue for the Laixi Women and Children's Hospital is under construction in Laixi, a county-level city in Qingdao, Shandong province, local media reported.

The hospital is a key government project to improve people's livelihoods in 2021.

It is located at the intersection of Beijing Road and Shenzhen Road in Laixi. It has an area of 33,333 square meters, a construction area of 72,000 square meters, and a total investment of 520 million yuan ($81.74 million).

The hospital will be equipped with 300 beds and is scheduled to be completed in December 2023.

Designed according to the standard of grade II maternal and child health care hospitals, it will be a comprehensive modern hospital integrating medical treatment, health care, rehabilitation and first aid. It can serve about 600,000 people.

The hospital will help improve the regional medical environment, enhance medical treatment capacity of emergencies, first aid and major public health emergencies in Laixi, and will have major social and economic benefits, said local authorities.
