Qingdao will continue to promote the high-quality development of the China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization Demonstration Zone for Local Economic and Trade Cooperation and foster a better platform for international cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Qingdao authorities made the remarks during a working conference to boost the construction of the China-SCO demonstration zone.

Located in the Jiaozhou Economic and Technological Development Zone in Qingdao, the China-SCO demonstration zone has been approved by the central government to further collaboration with SCO members in logistics, trade, investment, tourism and culture.

Qingdao will strengthen reform and innovation, including institutional innovation, to constantly unleash the development vitality of the zone.

Focusing on the functional orientation of the demonstration zone, Qingdao will plan key work for next year and beyond, implement projects as scheduled, and make every effort to push forward the development of the zone.

The China-SCO demonstration zone is designed to serve Qingdao's new status as a link between East and West through its land-sea transport systems. It is crucial to serving both the nation and Qingdao's strategies to deepen opening-up and international cooperation, said Qingdao officials.
