China-manufactured bullet trains, manufactured by CRRC Qingdao Sifang and CRRC Dalian, subsidiaries of China Railway Rolling Stock Corp, started operating between China and Laos on Dec 3.

The CRRC Qingdao Sifang provided key core equipment such as braking system and electronic systems for the trains.

As an important part of the trans-Asian railway network, the China-Laos railway runs from Kunming, China to Vientiane, Laos and will significantly shorten travel time.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Laos and the China-Laos Railway is a strategic project of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and part of Laos' strategy to convert itself from a landlocked country into a land-linked hub.
