An activity called "International Friends Exploring Qingdao" was held on Sept 26 in the Shinan district of Qingdao city – in East China's Shandong province - on Sept 26, according to local media reports.
The district invited expats who were awarded for their contributions to the city, in terms of its economic development and its environmental protection.
In an effort to transform Shinan into the core area of the modern international city of Qingdao – and a leader in the fashion industry – the cultural and tourism sectors have been integrated, to highlight local characteristics and raise the city's profile.
The event reportedly provided the international friends with direct experiences of the enhanced development of Qingdao's business. The event also helped publicize Shinan to the outside world, further reinforcing the image of Qingdao as an open and fashionable city.
It is understood that the attractions in the district – including the Haitian Center and the Forbidden City Cultural and Creative Store of Qingdao – left a deep and lasting impression on the participating expats.
