The opening ceremony of an art exhibition for local children was held at No 18 Taipingjiao Road on the morning of July 25 – in the Shinan district of Qingdao, located in East China's Shandong province.

The exhibits were themed on "The Color of China", with more than 120 works on display, involving various art forms.

The works are said to depict Shinan's light blue sea and sky, houses with red tiles, along with its beautiful bays.

The exhibition is scheduled to run to Aug 2 and the children's art works will be rated by judges, with the best pieces officially named as distinctive cultural and creative products of Qingdao.
