The eastern hub of Qingdao, Shandong province will host the first GAIA Electronic Music Festival from Oct 16-17 in the West Coast New Area.

The music festival will be launched by CMC, a domestic media and entertainment group, the Qingdao West Coast New Area Management Committee, and the Huangfa Group, according to the cooperative agreement signed on June 17.

The festival will be held once a year and have a scale of no less than 20,000 people per day. It will be built into a brand activity with national influence, said the organizers.

In recent years, the Qingdao West Coast New Area has been ramping up efforts to boost music education and training, music leisure tourism, music performance, music production and music equipment manufacturing.

"The GAIA Electronic Music Festival will serve the area’s efforts in building a music island," said a local official.

CMC will also build a large-scale theme entertainment resort project in the Qingdao West Coast New Area.
