The Qingdao Taipingwan Contemporary Art Museum was filled to capacity on May 22, with visitors eager to take in the opening of a joint exhibition of watercolors and oil paintings that is taking place in the district of Shinan – in Qingdao city in East China's Shandong province – according to local media reports.

The joint exhibition – which runs to May 30 – is showcasing the works of nearly 50 artists from Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin and the provinces of Jilin, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shanxi and Shandong.

Shinan, endowed with exquisite scenery, as well as charming cultural resources, has been promoting its art brand "watercolor Qingdao".

Visitors are being encouraged to experience Qingdao's rich and diverse landscapes and fashionable urban culture, which are recorded and presented in the vivid scenes and colorful motifs in the paintings.
