The "Qingdao on the Screen" exhibition, sponsored by the Qingdao Culture and Tourism Bureau and co-organized by Shinan District Culture and Tourism Bureau, was held in Shinan district, Qingdao in East China's Shandong province on Sept 15.
The exhibition carefully selected 100 posters from 100 classic movies shot in Qingdao in the past 70 years and introduced the plot, productions details, and shooting locations for each one, indirectly showcasing Qingdao's rapid development over that time.
Sun Jing, director of the Shinan Culture and Tourism Bureau, said that the 1907 Club – a cinema in Shinan - will choose to screen 12 of the hundred movies. Shinan is taking advantage of the city's cultural activities as well as promotional activities for local cinemas to benefit the people.
Since cinemas reopened on July 19, the city's box office has brought in nearly 45 million yuan ($6.6 million). More than 90 percent of cinemas have reopened to date.
