The first training course of the Qingdao Industrial Internet Academy will begin in September.

Launched on July 15 at the Qingdao University of Science and Technology, the academy is designed to cultivate top-notch talent and boost the technological transformation of the industrial internet.

Aimed at the different application requirements of enterprises, industries and government departments for industrial internet, the newly-launched academy offers a customized, integrated training system.

Chen Kezheng, president of the Qingdao University of Science and Technology, said that the academy will strengthen cooperation with other universities, research institutes and enterprises to tackle key problems, cultivate first-class talents needed for the high-quality development of industrial internet, and promote the innovation and transformation of key generic technologies.

Another of the academy's objectives is to align the city's opening-up efforts with Germany's Industry 4.0 strategy.

Chen said that the new academy is an industry-university-research cooperation platform based on the operation model of Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, a German applied research institute. The Qingdao University of Science and Technology has been collaborating with Germany for more than 20 years.

The academy will also invite the world's top scholars and engineering and technical experts to serve as its special faculty. In addition, senior scientific and technological professionals in the industry will take on the roles of visiting professors and entrepreneurship tutors.
