A special freight train carrying 35 carriages of paper pulp departed from Qingdao Port's Dongjiakou Logistics Park for Sun Paper Group in Jining, Shandong province on March 2.

This is the first time that Qingdao Port has offered "end-to-end" pulp cargo transportation, said a staff member from Qingdao Port.

Qingdao Port is a subsidiary of Shandong Port Group, which has integrated the major ports in the province, including Yantai Port, Rizhao Port and the Bohai Bay Port Group.

Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus epidemic, many enterprises have encountered production difficulties such as raw material shortages due to traffic control.

Qingdao Port is making use of its position in the Belt and Road Initiative, the China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization Demonstration Zone for Local Economic and Trade Cooperation, and the China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone, and seizing the opportunities brought by the integration reform of Shandong Port Group to build end-to-end logistic channels.

By boosting its sea and land transportation capacity, Qingdao Port can better satisfy demand, promote closer cooperation between ports and inland customers, and contribute to the fight against the virus.

"This is a train full of hope. If this batch of pulp couldn't be transported to the factory in time, it would significantly affect production. Thanks to the railway delivery plan developed by Qingdao Port, production will be able to resume smoothly," said a manager from Sun Paper Group.

"We will have 39 more pulp containers, which will also be transported through this line."
