The 26th Shandong Province Sports Games will run from Aug 26 to Sept 5 in Linyi, in the south of the province. Setting a historic record, this year's games will feature 38 major sports, 1,081 sub-events, 1,620 gold medals, and 13,000 registered athletes. Currently, 98 percent of the preliminary matches have been completed, and 380 gold medals have been awarded across concluded finals.
To ensure the overall success of the games, over 4,200 event volunteers and 750 city volunteers have completed specialized training. Dedicated teams for medical aid, food safety, and traffic control will remain stationed on duty to support all operations seamlessly.
Meanwhile, Linyi is promoting long-term venue operations and public fitness initiatives across campuses and communities. By integrating the "sports plus" development model, the city aims to maximize visitor traffic and economic growth, fulfilling the vision of hosting a remarkable games in a way that revitalizes the entire city.
